What StandFacts is

StandFacts is a free reference tool. We follow a few US policy stories and label each claim confirmed, reported, disputed, denied, corrected or unverified. A label describes what the cited sources say at the time we checked them; it is not a final verdict. Follow the links to read each source in full. Nothing here is legal, financial or other professional advice.

Mistakes and corrections

A person checks every claim, but we can still get things wrong. When we change a label, we say so on the Corrections page. How we label claims explains the rules.

Using our content

You’re welcome to quote short excerpts and labels with a link back to StandFacts. Quotes from sources belong to their publishers; we show short excerpts and link to the original.

Fair use of the site

Please don’t overload the site, try to get around its security, or copy it in bulk with automated tools.

No warranty

StandFacts is provided “as is”, without warranties. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for decisions made on the basis of it.

Changes

We may update the service and these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top.
